The Dark and Hollow Places

Review:

“Usually the worst thing you can do when you’re being chased by Unconsecrated is run. It wears you out fast, and any distance you might gain is only lost while you recover and they keep coming. But that’s the problem. I’m not being chased by Unconsecrated. At least, not just them. And the living can move much faster than the dead.”

I am so unbelievably sad that this trilogy has come to an end. I have grown so attached to all the characters, and quite frankly already miss them. My favorite part about this whoooole story (aside from zombies, duh!) is the strength that every single main character has. It’s truly something to admire and look up to.
In The Dark and Hollow Places, Carrie Ryan continues the story from The Dead-Tossed Waves, with the POV from Annah as opposed to Gabry. And she nailed it! Which twin did I love more? I surely can not choose. The toughness, bravery, and courage that these two women show–independently and together–is remarkable. You just know it’s in there genes not only survive but to live.

“…twining my fingers through his, holding him closer. Knowing that this is what it means to live. That this love, this need is what drives us to push and fight and build and grow. That as long as there’s hope and love in this world, there will always be the living.”

Carrie Ryan brings us through another adventure featuring survival, fear, loss, good times & bad. But she will never leave us without continuing to show us that love always prevails. And those are my favorite kind of reads!
